Local tips

  • Visiting Seville in July or August without preparing for 40–44°C (104–111°F) afternoon heat—sightsee between 8:00 AM and 1:30 PM, rest during siesta, and dine after 9:00 PM.
  • Ordering large 'raciones' for one person at traditional bars instead of ordering €3.50–€5.00 'tapas' so you can sample 3–4 bars in an evening.
  • Accepting rosemary twigs near the Cathedral—it is an aggressive street hustle demanding €5–€20.
